Buddhist Altar to Aborted and Misscarried Children
Miscarried children, and more importantly perhaps aborted children. The Japanese are into abortion with low rates of pill usage and decreasing rates of use of condoms (despite increases in the number of aids patients), so abortion is rife. But as is the case everywhere, abortion is accompanied by some regret. Hence the large number of offerings, particularly the tablets which are funeral names for the deceased.
